About us

The Stained Glass Window Company is a family run business, led by Martin Paing, a skilled artisan lead-light fabricator. Martin brings a wealth of experience to the company from a variety of domestic, ecclesiastical and historic stained glass windows projects. In fact, Martin has worked on most major cathedrals across the UK. With so many years in the trade and such a variety of experience, we are able to deliver stunning results, no matter how unique your requirements are.

Martin began his apprenticeship as a lead-light fabricator in 1979, learning the traditional artisan techniques that are almost unchanged since the 12th century. He actually fell into the trade completely by chance after taking the place of his friend who was unable to attend his apprenticeship at a local stained glass window company. With craftsmanship in his blood, Martin went on to start and run his own successful independent company. He was regularly commissioned on a variation of projects for places of worship and residential homes, as well as other endeavours.
Eventually, Martin was approached by an industry renowned supplier and specialist; Norman and Underwood. He worked for them from 2003 on a range of prestigious projects, often involving English Heritage Grade I and Grade II listed buildings.

After Martin left Norman and Underwood, The Stained Glass Window Company was born. The company has operated under the umbrella of our sister construction company A&R Design. Since we have become so successful, we now operate independently, despite sharing the same back-office support. Martin now works from a very well equipped space with a selection of unique rooms where each stage of the process can be carried out. In fact, we even have an area where clients can choose from a variety of samples and design books.

You will find us based in Enfield, North London, but we operate on a national basis. Most of our clientele are located in London, the Home Counties and the South East of England. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require more information.
